Notes

In the early 1970s Michael Foreman produced numerous illustrations for the BBC television series, Jackanory. The illustrations offered here, occasionally noted with programme and camera shot details, are presumably for this purpose. The series of 12 watercolour drawings mostly including a boy (Alexander Banyana) on a bicycle, a unicorn and a dodo would appear to relate to The Birthday Unicorn, by Janice Elliott, first published in 1970. The illustrations offered here were for the BBC television Jackanory series. The 1970 volume includes only black and white illustrations by Foreman.
