Notes

Hari Ambadas Gade originally trained as a mathematician and scientist before founding the Bombay Progressive Artist's Group along with FN Souza, SH Raza and MF Husain. The present work, although undated, was produced in the late 1940s, or very early 1950s and is similar in style to contemporary works produced by SH Raza in terms of the impressionistic depiction of the subject, here a fountain in the city of Jabalpur, formerly Jubblepur.
