FOUR ARCHAISTIC JADE AND HARDSTONE BELL-SHAPED PENDANTS

Late Qing Dynasty

The large bell carved with a
chi dragon on one side, and a four-character archaic style inscription on the other, a pair of masks with crisscrossed rings at the shoulder, the center hollowed, the knop perforated for stringing, the stone mottled brown with natural inclusions; the flattened oblong pendant with curved bottom edge, pierced at the butt end, the sides carved with a incised
chi dragon; the small trapezoidal pendant pierced on the upper end and decorated with carved
chi dragon design, the stone stained brown in most areas; the small celadon bell of cylindrical body, perforated under the square knop for stringing. (4)

Overall in good condition. Minor surface pitting and wear. Stones altered to induce colors and textures for the appearance of antiquity.

A small cylindrical bell-shaped pendant similar to the celadon jade pendant in the present lot, from the Bishop William C. White Collection and now in the Royal Ontario Museum, is illustrated on the museum's website, number 928.12.156, attributed as Qin-Yuan dynasty.
