THE PROPERTY OF THE LATE JOSEPH McCRINDLE SOLD BY ORDER OF THE EXECUTORS (LOTS 215-218)
No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis.
This picture is an important addition to the oeuvre of Francesco Lupicini, painter of the Martha and Mary in the Kunsthistoriches Museum, Vienna and of the Magdalene in a private collection, New York (formerly with Colnaghi; see C. McCorquodale and H. Acton, Painting in Florence 1600-1700, exhibition catalogue, London, Royal Academy of Art and Colnaghi, 1979, pp. 82-83, no. 34). The latter is the most significant comparative for this picture, together with the Allegory of Sculpture and the Allegory of Painting in the Columbia University of Art, South Carolina.

We are grateful to Dr. Francesca Baldassari for confirming the attribution on the basis of photographs and for her assistance in cataloguing this lot.
