Condition: Lined, minor retouch, craquelure, surface grime.

Provenance: Purchased c. 1920 by patent attorney Mr. Drury Walls Cooper (1872-1957), Montclair, New Jersey; by family descent to Esther Nicholas (née Cooper) Poneck, Putney, Vermont; private New England collection.

Very thin wash of retouch beneath varnish layer to minimize fine craquelure in the background of the u.r. quadrant; alligatoring to background of u.l. and l.l. quadrants; minor area of varnish loss to her blue sash l.l.; old varnish layer; may benefit from a gentle cleaning, no additional condition issues to report.
