A group portrait of a mother with her two children, she wearing a white-dotted pink chemise à la Reine with frilled lace collar and seated in a green-upholstered armchair, presenting a pendant with monogram suspended from a black lace ribbon to her two children
signed and dated 'F. IO. HOHR PIN[..] 17[..]' (lower right)
2 13/16 in. (72 mm.) diam., reeded gilt-metal frame, the reverse set with a physionotrace engraving of a gentleman in profile

François-Joseph Hohr was one of the ten sons of Ignace Hohr, all of whom bore the first name of François and five of them became artists. For an account on this interesting Alsacian painter, see F.
