signed 'Holl.' (lower right) and further signed and inscribed 'This picture is suggested by the fact that during the Commonwealth the keeping of Christmas was forbidden. The children have been caught picking holly, by a sour old Roundhead who is reproaching them for indulging in such an idolatrous practice. Holl' (on the reverse)
