FRANK O. KING (1883-1969). First cartoonist to allow his character to age. Creator and winner of the Reuben Award for Gasoline Alley. Vintage postcard SP, 31/2"x51/4" three-quarter length seated portrait of the young cartoonist at desk. Darkly signed on verso, "Your boy / Frank King." Annotated in pencil along left edge "June 25, 1910," the year he started at the Chicago Tribune. Moderate age toning to both sides; light thin dampstains at left and right edges; else in good condition with strong sentiment and signature area. Accompanied by unsigned b/w period comic line art print of a sailor with island girl in WW II, overall 31/2"x51/2". Minor soiling and age toning; else near Fine.
