Frank Samuel Eastman (1878-1964) "Constance", portrait of a lady, seated, wearing a black chiffon dress, holding a necklace, the daughter of E.S. Goodes Esq. Signed and dated (19)03, also inscribed with the artist's name and further inscriptions on the stretcher verso, also inscribed Alfred Robins Esq.... , oil on canvas, 91.5cm by 71.5cm The work was exhibited at the RA in 1903, no 487, Constance, daughter of E S Goodes Esq. Born in London in 1878, Frank Samuel Eastman studied at the Croydon School of Art and the Royal Academy Schools. He exhibited with the Royal Academy of Arts in London from 1902-1940. His primary subject matter was portraiture, landscapes and figurative work. His wife Maud and daughter Edith were also artists. The work is contained within its original elaborately decorated gilt plaster and wooden frame with foliage and acorn decoration. See illustration
