Description

Franz Friedrich Keil (Liebau 1813-1875 Breslau) Three-quarter length portrait of two boys standing at a desk, signed and dated F. F. Keil 1837, Oil on canvas, 82 x 68 cm, framed, craquelure, (Rei) Friedrich Keil first learned to work with gold under this father in Schweidnitz, he left for the Berlin Academy in 1831, where he studied under Joh. K. H. Kretzschmar and C. W. Wach. In 1865 he travelled to Breslau, where he occasionally took part it exhibitions. In his younger years Keil also painted miniature portraits and was active as a silhouettist. In 1834 and between 1852 and 1868 he took part in exhibitions at the Berlin Academy.
