A large size and typical Viennese portrait of a young lady in fashionable riding habit; portraits by the painter fetch up to around €80,000 in the international auction market

Condition:
The painting is in good condition with few signs of wear consistent with its age. The canvas is relined. Some retouching visible under UV-light. Occasionally weak craquelure and partial minor loss of color in the outer edges, otherwise generally of good impression. The image dimensions are 111 x 54.5 cm, framed 124 x 88 cm.

Franz Schrotzberg (1814-1889)
Famous Viennese portrait painter, Franz Schrotzberg was born 1814 in Vienna. He was a student at the Vienna Academy and from 1832 exhibited his oil portraits at the academy exhibitions, very soon gaining great popularity as a portraitist among the Austrian high society and abroad. His works can be seen in the Austrian National Gallery Belvedere and other noted museums in Austria and worldwide.
