This lot depicts Virginie Baribeau from the poem, The Rose Delima, in Johnnie Courteau by Drummond. Drummond’s poems and Coburn’s illustrations were very successful earning Coburn further commissions to illustrate the work of such illustrious writers as Dickens, Washington Irving and Edgar Allen Poe.Estimate: $4,000–6,000
