Item Overview

Description

French working mechanical Renou "Musical Carousel" Merry-Go-Round c1880-1890 is 20" (51cm) tall and 33cm wide. Working key wind mechanism with start stop lever for carousel and music. Three original bisque head dolls incised 4413 have blue glass inserted eyes, stroke brows and open pink mouths and composition lower limbs. Other doll is replaced antique French Lanternier with painted blue eyes. All look to have original fayed Polichinelles outfits. The flocked papier mache horses and pigs have some limb reglues, original trim and black bead glass eyes. The all original Carousel has a red white striped canopy with gold metal motifs and fancy gold tin trim, alos gold meatallic lace trim, four sided central mirror pillar, two large green glass baubles. The round-a-bout has original faded red silk covering with gold metal motifs and gold metallic lace trim. The wood base is also covered in red silk. Antique Musical Carousel is in good general original condition and extremely rare. Provenance Dutch Museum and sold by Abbingdon in 2000

2. All sales are final: All items are sold "as is" whether in perfect condition or with faults. Personal inspection is at viewing time.

3. The item is determined SOLD by the auctioneer and legal title of the item passes immediately to the highest acknowledged bidder and that bidder assumes full responsibility for the item sold.

4. Payment: All items purchased must be paid for in full on the day of the auction and before leaving the premises.

Personal cheques and or direct bank deposit may be accepted from those known to us or by prior arrangement.

5. Registration: Registration is required for all bidders. It is necessary to receive a bidders number to buy at the auction. We advise you to return your bidders number to the cashier to prevent misuse or loss of the number. Reserve seat holders will find their number on the seat.

6. Abbingdon Auctions Australia reserves the right to withdraw any lot before the actual sale. If the auctioneer determines that
the amount bid is not commensurate with the value of the lot Abbingdon may reject that bid and / or withdraw the item from the auction.

7. Tied Bids: In the event of a tied absentee bid, first to leave that bid will be given preference over the other later absentee bid.

8. Removal of Goods: All goods must be collected and removed from the venue on the day of the sale, otherwise charges will apply.

9. Please Note: There is a 20% Buyers Premium plus GST at this Auction. For example Bid A$100 buyer pays A$120.90

Absentee sales must be paid for and goods removed within 10 days of auction. Otherwise storage at $15 per week and interest of 2% pcm will apply, unless prior arrangement is made - Good luck and bid early!
