Karl August Friedrich Frst zu Waldeck und Pyrmont (1704-1763), facing right in gilt breastplate, white coat and lace cravat, ermine-bordered red cloak draped over his right shoulder, wearing the red moir‚ sash and breast star of an order, long powdered wig en queue, his left hand holding a plummed helmet with viser; sky and cloud background signed and dated on the reverse 'G: de Lehenner: pinxit. 1761.' vellum laid down on card rectangular, 3 3/8 x 2 13/16 in. (85 x 72 mm.), gilt-metal frame with reeded borders LITERATURE U. Thieme/F. Becker, Allgemeines Lexikon der bildenden Knstler, Leipzig, 1928, vol. 22, p. 578 (sitter unidentified).
