Lot 55: G.S. Truesdell 1884 Sheep Pastoral Oil Painting

Gaylord Sangston Truesdell (American, 1850-1899) sheep pastoral; oil on canvas; 14" x 18"; signed and dated 1884 lower right. In period frame with brass artist plaque. Born in Illinois, died in New York. *In 1889, his painting "There's The Shepherd" received a bronze medal in the Salon. In 1892, "Vaches au Borde de la Riviere" received the first gold medal awarded by the Salon to an American painter. (from the archives of Askart)
