Gambier Bolton (1854-1929)Majesty, ca. 1890Mural-sized carbon print mounted on linenTitled and credited Gambier Bolton F.R.G.S. in the negative.In original frame. The F.R.G.S. after his name in the negative, identifies Bolton as a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. He was also a member of the Zoological Society and the Royal Photographic Society. Gambier Bolton began as an amateur photographer of animals, and gained the recognition as the first celebrated animal photographer for his candid images of wild animals in captivity and in nature. His animal photographs were sold by the publishers Erdmann & Schanz in London.H: 31 1/2 W: 41 1/2 in.Jacobson, Etude d'Après, 19th Century Photographs in Relation to Art, p. 171.

Your Bid is a Contract

All the Property offered and sold through the Company shall be offered and sold under the Terms and Conditions set forth herein. YOUR BID IS A CONTRACT and ALL SALES ARE FINAL. By participating in any auction at the Company, you acknowledge that you accept and are bound by these Terms and Conditions, any of which may be modified or waived at the sole discretion of the Company.

Payment Due in 5 Days

The buyer shall pay the full purchase price which includes Hammer price, together with the 25% buyers' premium PLUS any applicable fees, taxes and shipping costs within five (5) days of the date of sale. Payment shall be made in US dollars by cash, cashier's or certified check, credit cards accepted by the Company, in-state personal check, or wire transfer.
Balances over $5,000 must be paid by wire transfer. Payment will not be considered complete until funds are cleared. No Property will be released to the buyer until payment has been made in full. If payment is made by check the Company reserves the right to hold Property purchased until funds have cleared the bank. Buyer agrees to pay the Company a handling charge of $50 for any check dishonored by the drawee.
