Notes

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1851, George Wetherbee was sent to Europe to study in Antwerp and at the Royal Academy schools in London. The young artist lived in various cities on the European continent as well as the West Indies and finally settled in London where he exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy from 1873. An exhibition of his work was held at the Fine Art Society in 1903.
