Description

Intricately detailed bronze statue of Gaius Scaeva made by a German sculptor Wilhelm Kumm (1861-?). This statue depicts Gaius, who wanted to kill the King Porsenna who was besieging Rome. Gaius stands next to a cauldron of fire, in which he has a hand to prove to the king the worthlessness of a body over which there is a desire for glory. This statue is marked by the Berlin foundry Aktiengesellschaft Gladenbeck, around 1900; height 52.5 cm (20,6”).
