NOTE

a very good copy. Anton Goering (1836-1905) first visited South America in 1856-1858, travelling to Rio de Janeiro and then on to Uruguay and Argentina. He returned to Leipzig and remained in Europe until his visit to Venezuela in 1866. During the next eight years he travelled extensively throughout the country, often following the pioneering routes taken earlier by Humboldt or Bellermann, making his own contribution to geographical exploration and botanical studies, especially in the Caripe region.
