Original scrapbook prepared by Miss Doe and her pupils, for whom Raggedy Ann and Andy were "class mascots," [1938-1942]. Folio (325 x 260 mm). Mounting pages yellowed, one letter removed, light wear to covers, overall very good. Contents include an 8 by 10 inch sepia-toned photograph of Gruelle signed and inscribed by him; several typed letters signed by Gruelle including one with a 4 1/2 inch tall drawing of Raggedy Ann climbing the stairs with a candle captioned " Nighty Night "; two original photographs of Gruelle's young daughter Marcella (she is featured in all of the books) and 3 original photographs of the Gruelle home; original photographs of Miss Doe's Raggedy Ann productions from the 1930s-1940s showing the children in costume; children's drawings; and several letters from Gruelle's widow (usually signed "Raggedy Ann's Mamma").
