PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE EUROPEAN COLLECTION

Duchenne de Boulogne is best-known for his series of photographs on human physiognomy published in 1862. While he made other medical portraits such as this and the photographs in the following two lots, presumambly for personal reference or research purposes, examples are rare today.
