Description

Gustav Trois (American, 1913-2002), "A View in Washington, DC," oil on board, signed lower right and dated 5/1969, measures approx. 11.50 x 13.50 inches unframed, 15 x 17 inches overall in the frame made by Kulicke in New York. CONDITION: Good, framed under glass. Gustav Trois was an artist who taught several generations of students at his Montgomery County, Maryland studio and through the Montgomery County school system's adult education program. Mr. Trois created watercolors, etchings and sketches and his work often depicted Washington, DC, history but also included ideas gathered during his frequent travels to Europe. Some of his work joined the permanent collections of the Corcoran Gallery of Art and the Smithsonian Institution and the private collections of J. Edgar Hoover, Ethel Barrymore and Jack Benny.
