With wood box authenticated by Awakawa Yasuichi (1902-1976), the foremost authority on Zen painting of the 20th century, and Watanabe Mizu
Awakawa was a professor of economics and a lifelong devotee of Zen and Zen painting. He was himself a painter in the style of Sengai. Awakawa authored several monographs and surveys of Zenga, including Zen Painting, published in English by Kodansha in 1970/77.
