Item Overview

Description

Hallensleben, Ruth Parksiedlung Kippekausen Parksiedlung Kippekausen (housing development). 1959-61. 21 Duxochrome prints (tricolor carbro prints), 1964. Each between 17 x 22,5 cm and 22,5 x 17 cm. Mounted to album pages, bound in contemporary full parchment album (slightly time-stained), with handwritten dedication in ink to the city director of Bensberg (1949 - 1970) Wilhelm Wagener on first page, in half linen slipcase (slightly time-stained). Ruth Hallensleben used color slides for this architectural documentation of the early rebuilding years in Germany. The only stable but very expensive color process available in Germany at this time was the Duxochrome process. The 'Johannes Herzog' company in Bremen made the material for this process. Three separate negatives had to be made of a slide (color separation negatives) and matrix foils in primary colors were then made from these to be combined in a positive color print. This album contains a colorful collection of images showing German postwar residential architecture in a more idllyic, rural environment. - Prints with bright colors and in excellent condition.
