Brixen/South Tyrol, around 1485/90

A pair of female saints in half-relief, including Mary Magdalene, which were originally attached to a winged altar
The work is accompanied by an expertise of the museum director Dr. Albrecht Miller from Munich (dated November 17, 2014)
Literature: cf. Gisela Scheffler, Hans Klocker, Innsbruck 1964, Cat. 14 and Cat. 31
Dimensions of figures: circa 40 x 15 cm
Good condition
Provenance: Collection Rudolf Kremayr, Perechtoldsdorf, Vienna; private collection, The Netherlands
A finest carved work in the typical late Gothic style
Estimate by Auctionata Expert: 65,000 Euro

The reliefs were probably attached on the insides of the predella wings of an altar shrine or on the insides of the wings of a small altar. Similar figures by Klocker can be found on the altars in Pinzon, Villnöß Pardell, and on the Tramin altar in the Bavarian National Museum.

Condition: The figures are in good condition according to age, showing some losses in the paint and gilding. The inspection under UV light reveals a small area of retouching to the face of the left figure. Both figures are approximately 40 x 15 cm in size. The chipboard measures circa 44 x 40 x 6 cm.
