An Art Nouveau tin wall mirror,


the projecting cornice supported by two square columns, with repoussé-worked capitals depicting birds perched in a bower, above a platform base with shaped apron, the central mirrored plate within moulded frame with stylised bird cartouche, signed and dated with hammered mark Harold Stabler 1902

Note; Stabler was appointed director of the metalworking section of the Keswick School of Industrial Art in 1898, and left in 1902, the year this mirror was made. He began working for R.L.B. Rathbone in the metalworking department of Liverpool School of Art that same year and it may be that the present lot was made there.
