Description

Untitled abstract modernist silver-plated copper sculpture on black wood base by noted modernist artist Harry Baron. It is signed, dated (1979), and numbered("6/7"). This piece was done on a smaller scale in order to travel to the multiple series of exhibitions he had in Germany in 1980. Height (including base): 25 cm. Weight is 5 pds 6 oz. PROVENANCE: A Charleston SC Private Estate. Harry Baron, is the Head of the Israeli Sculptors Studio which he founded in 1988. Harry Baron was born in 1944 in Israel. He started his career as a painter. His first one-man-show took place in 1962. Since 1967 he devoted himself to sculpture. He exhibited his sculptures in Europe and the U.S.A. His sculptures found their way into many important private collections and museums. Some of his big sculptures stand in public places. He was commissioned to do a sculpture for the center of Tel Aviv. He completed outdoor projects commissioned by different architects. He works in bronze, wood, stone and aluminium, using a variety of advanced techniques. EDUCATION: Academy of Art, Berlin, Germany. APPOINTMENTS: Head of The Sculpture Department, Avni Academy of Art, Tel Aviv. Head, Israeli Sculpture Studio. Civic Activities: Founder of the Round Table in Israel; Founder, Israel Sculpture Studio. COMMISSIONS and Creative works: Many one man shows in Israel and abroad; Exhibited with distinguished painter Juan Miro. Many sculptures in public places, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Berlin, Bremen, Japan, USA. Friendship with the artists Elaine de Kooning and her husband Willem de Kooning; providing assistance related to techniques for casting bronze, N.Y.,U.S.A
