Notes

A finished watercolour of this view, dated 1845, was in the F.J. Baildon Collection, Southport.
Johnson was a pupil of William James Müller and accompanied him on Sir Charles Fellows' expedition to Lycia in 1843. He called himself 'Harry' to avoid confusion with Henry Johnson.
