Signed "H. Lane" l.r., identified on a label from Ferargil, New York, and with a
label from the Cleveland Museum of Art (see below) affixed to the reverse.
Oil on panel, 20 x 16 in. (50.8 x 40.6 cm), framed.
Condition: Retouch, craquelure, surface grime.

Provenance: Through the family of the artist to a private Chester, Vermont collection; Skinner Inc., American & European Paintings, May 8, 1998, Sale 1843, Lot 214; private Massachusetts collection.

There are extensive dots of retouch to the sky, and broader strokes and glazes to the brick building. There are a series of vertical surface cracks along the upper edge of the work, 2 to 3 inches each in length.
