Madame Ponçon, in printed grey dress with white lace trim, white muslin fichu, black shawl, gold necklace, brown ribbon in her loose curling brown hair, holding a letter in her right hand and an envelope addressed to 'Mad. Ponçon à Genève' and inscribed 'je l'aime'
signed and dated 'L'Evêque l'aine. 1799' (lower right)

The pair to this enamel, depicting Monsieur Ponçon, was also in the D. David-Weill collection and is now in the Louvre (INV. RF 30907).
