HENRI PEINTE (FRENCH 1845-1912): SARPEDON a patinated bronze figure of the young hero of Troy tightening his bow, base inscribed H. Peinte and with title -- 40.5cm high Henri Peinte exhibited at the Salon between 1877 and 1889. Sarpedon is his best known model, executed for a park in his home town of Cambrai and reductions were cast by Siot-Decauville in 1888 (Pierre Kjellberg, Bronzes of the 19th century, Atglen, 1994, p.536).
