Henrik August Ankarcrona(Schonen 1831-1892) An Oriental Camp, signed Henric Ankarcrona, oil on panel, 37.5 x 46 cm, framed, (Rei)Henrik August Ankarcrona: He began his service as an officer in the French army in 1858 and achieved distinction in the expedition against Morocco in 1859. In 1860 he served in Spain and at the end of the war returned home. The lives of soldiers in North Africa became one of his favourite motifs. Without extensive education, he relied on a great natural talent for life composition, a good eye for paint work, and great skill.
