Lot 18: Henry Herbert La Thangue R.A. (1859-1929) FISHING BOAT AT ANCHOR IN AN ESTUARY signed, oil on

canvas 66 x 42 cm. (26 x 16 in.). The present painting appears to date from circa 1882/1883 and may therefore have been painted at Quimperle. The handling compares closely with Young Girl Reading (Private Collection, ex Pyms Gallery) and in its broad, square brushed, painterly manner comes close to that of his friend Stanhope Alexander Forbes who was working in Brittany at the same time.
