Original cloth-backed boards, printed paper label on upper cover, top edge trimmed, others uncut (some staining); green quarter morocco slipcase. Provenance: Dr. Edgar Burke (1889-1950), American physician, sporting artist (presentation inscription from the printer); Joseph Delaplaine Bates, Jr., angling author (bookplate).

FIRST EDITION, LIMITED ISSUE, number 4 of 423 copies. PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY CONNETT on the front free endpaper: "To Edgar Burke From Eugene Connett." Burke was Connett's childhood companion and lifelong friend whose illustrations appeared in multiple Derrydale Press works. [Laid-in:] 4 page "Good Wishes from Eugene V.
