Description

Hilda Gertrude Cowham (1873 - 1964), An Original Pen Ink and Blue Crayon Drawing with a social take on smallpox. Titled in pencil to the lower left "Mistress and Maid - If she thought her life was in danger" and signed to the lower right, "H. Cowham", in a later mount, measuring 9 approximately 9 by 6 inches. Hilda Cowham was a prolific author, artist and illustrator who trained at Lambeth. A collection of her work is held by the V&A Museum.
