*Hold (Abel, 1815-1891). Still Life of Pheasant and Pigeon on a wooded bank, oil on canvas, signed and dated 1868, relined, 45.5 x 61cm (18 x 24ins), framed. The Yorkshire artist Abel Hold, was born in Alverthorp, near Wakefield, being one of nine children. He achieved fame as an animal and game painter, exhibiting sixteen times at the Royal Academy, as well as elsewhere. (1)
