Provenance Estate of Nellie Couldery, the artist’s niece Thence by descent Private collection, UK The medal to the right of the dog in the present lot could be the silver medal awarded by the Chow Chow Club, formed on 1 July 1895 in London. Silver and bronze medals were awarded to prize dogs until the First World War when gold medals were also introduced. From the original ten founders the club has grown to over 700 members.
