Edmond Tschaggeny's strength as an artist owes not only to his highly skillful and anatomically precise depiction of cattle, but also to his ability to render beautiful landscapes. Born in Neufchâtel, he specialized in painting sheep and oxen primarily in Genk in the Campine. He was a pupil of Eugène Joseph Verboeckhoven.
