Photographer: Charles T. Scowen (active in Ceylon, 1870 - 1899), Lala Deen Dayal (1844 - 1905, Court photographer) and unknown. Selected images of India and Ceylon. 1870-90. 14 albumen prints. Each circa 22 x 28 cm. Mounted to original board (faded with time staining), 1 with photographer's name in the negative in lower left corner, others with number in the negative in lower edge; annotated in English and German in pencil on the recto. An attractive group of images which includes the Mahanjha Palace, Senar Palace, Amber Palace, as well as poetic landscape views. Two images are by Scowen and four by Lala Deen Dayal. - A few faded in edges, some with light scuff marks, one with retouched spot of emulsion loss, otherwise with rich tones and in very good condition.
