Description

Figure of an Indian woman on a canoe with oar in hand. Bronze measures 10" in height, 15 1/2" long, 6" wide, and is mounted on an 11" by 7" marble base. Marked by the artist "Duchoiselle" on the left side of the sculpture. Known for his sculpting, Duchoiselle also supplied ceiling reliefs for the Louvre and Garnier's Opera in 1882. He created other examples of American Indian bronzes in the 1860's, which were produced by the Frilli Gallery in Florence.

Excellent. Statue has a smooth bronze patina. All parts are present with only minor dings and scratches overall.
