A terrace with classical buildings overlooking a port black lead, pen and brown and black ink, grey wash, watermark Strasburg lily, pen and brown ink framing lines 85/8 x 131/4 in. (219 x 336 mm.) PROVENANCE Pieter Langerhuizen (cf. L. 2095); Frederick Muller, Amsterdam, 29 April - 1 May 1919, lot 574 (25,5 fl. to Hamburger). Helena Hamburger-Gerzon, and by descent. NOTES A variant of this composition, with a number of differences in the foreground, is in the Ghent Museum, N. Wedde, Isaac de Moucheron, Frankfurt, 1996, no. W176, pl. 193. The Ghent watercolor is signed and dated 1742.
