Head Study of a Woman in a Hat
Unsigned.
Pastel on paper, 29 1/2 x 23 in. (76.0 x 58.0 cm), unframed.
Condition: Handling creases, soiling to edges of sheet, sheet mounted to foam core backing with masking tape along the perimeter of the front.

Provenance: Through the estate of Matthew Wysocki (1920-1991), artist, photographer, professor, and chairman of Dartmouth College's visual studies department (1966-1989), to the present owner by family descent, Connecticut.

Condition Report

Handling creases to the outer edges of the sheet, more pronounced to u.l. quadrant in the background to the left of the sitter's hat. Soiling primarily across the bottom edge in a band about 2 1/2 inches high, with lighter soiling at the lower side edges. Minor stray marks to sheet. The masking tape extends around three sides, leaving the bottom edge of the sheet exposed.
