The present work and lot 56 are studies arising out of Roberts-Jones' work on Lazarus Rider, (see P. Cannon-Brookes, Ivor Roberts-Jones, London, 1983, pp. 82-83, no. 83, illustrated). Lazarus Rider was commissioned by Sir Richard Hyde-Parker for Melford Hall, Suffolk.
