Notes

The present lot depicts the 'Johan Melchior Kemper'. In the mizzen mast a flag inscribed "B&C" indicates this vessel belonged to Boissevain & Co., based in Amsterdam. The ship is shown on the river Maas after 1853 when it was under the command of captain J.C. Schaaf as can be deducted from the flag with number 537, which was from the College Zeemanshoop, Amsterdam.

Christie's charges a Buyer's premium calculated at 23.205% of the hammer price for each lot with a value up to €110,000.
