Provenance: Johan van der Does, Heer van Bergesteyn, presumably his sale, The Hague, early 1705; Valerius Rover (L.2984a-c: with his numberings 38 (deleted), and 35/38; listed in his inventory as: L.Carats: een leggende pelgrim, tegens een boom rustende met de pen, van L: Carats. uit de Collectie van Bergestein); Jhr.
