Often paired with his Mephistopheles, the present model is either known by the title Sorciere or 'Macbeth'. The Sorciere was inspired by the Three Witches that appear in Shakespeare's Macbeth - a subject also painted by Henry Fuseli. Another example inscribed Bronze d'Art was included in the 1985 Shepherd Gallery exhibition.
