A pair of portraits of Lord and Lady Foley; he wears coat with turned-back cuffs, frilled shirt and stock, his curled wig terminating in a pigtail; she wears robe over white dress with lace trim, pearls at her neck and under her collar with a large jewelled pendant, a cloak over her arm
indian ink on vellum, gilded, turned wood frames, the reverse of the former inscribed in ink with sitter's name

Notes


Thomas, Lord Foley (d.1766), was second and last Baron Foley (cr.1712). After his death, the estate passed to his cousin, Thomas. Thomas, Lord Foley, was resident at Witley Court, Worcestershire and transformed Great Witley Church circa 1747 with painted windows, the organ and case, the barrel vaulted ceiling to accommodate the ceiling paintings and the wall and ceiling decorations.
