"This gentleman was kind enough to see me home, darling."
Signed "Thurber" l.c., titled within the composition, identified in a letter from
James Thurber attached to the frame backing.
Pen and ink on paper, 8 1/2 x 11 1/8 in. (21.5 x 28.3 cm), framed.
Condition: Sheet laid down on matboard support, pencil crop marks at edges of sheet.

Provenance: Purchased from the artist by Mrs. Donald Straus in 1950; to the estate of Elizabeth A. Straus, New York and Maine.

With a label from Raymond & Raymond, Inc., New York, on the frame backing paper, minor paper loss to u.l. quadrant (approx. 1/16 x 1/16 in.), no additional condition issues to report.

The paperboard support is inscribed on the reverse with the title of the work written in French in red pencil, and "10 guineas" in pencil.
