DESCRIPTION: James Herbert Snell (England, 1861 - 1935). Oil on canvas. Landscape with marsh. Entitled "A Moorland Pool" as noted by label upon stretcher. Signed upon the lower right in black "J. Herbert Snell". Marked upon the verso and stretcher "J. Herbert Snell". James Herbert Snell studied art at Heatherley's, London, Paris, and Amsterdam. Recognition followed with election to the Royal Society of British Artists in 1890 and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in 1909. Gold frame. MEASUREMENTS: 29-1/2" x 19-1/2". Overall with frame 37-3/4" x 28". CONDITION: Losses to paint especially upon right side. Minor wear to frame.
