Notes

Through their father, Michael and Mary Perceval were grandchildren of Spencer Perceval (who, in 1812, had the dubious distinction of being the only British Prime Minister to be assassinated) whilst their mother, Anne Mary Flower, was the daughter of Sir Charles Flower, Lord Mayor of London. Michael married Maria Vanneck, daughter of the Hon. Gerrard Vanneck, on 13 December, 1849. His sister, Mary, was the wife of Sir James Matheson (1798-1878), one of the co-founders of the Jardine-Matheson Company, which began trading in 1832.
